Principal Scientist

Full-Time 54000 - 84000 £ / year (est.) No home office possible

We are recruiting a Principal Scientist to join a leading Pharmaceutical company in Kent on an initial 12 month contract. As the Principal Scientist you will focus on pre-formulation and biopharmaceutics, providing an exciting chance to contribute to the advancement of drug candidates from lead optimisation to proof of concept.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate within CMC and cross-functional teams as the pre-formulation and formulation development lead.
Design and deliver pre-clinical formulations for early discovery pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, and toxicological studies through rational experimental planning, thoughtful execution, and clear data interpretation.
Carry out physicochemical characterisation of new chemical entities and advise project teams on compound developability potential, suggesting improvements and potential development de-risking strategies where required.
Coach and mentor more junior and less experienced members of staff by providing clear scientific and technical guidance and training.

Role Requirements

Relevant degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Material Sciences, or Chemical Engineering.
Proven industry experience in pre-formulation and biopharmaceutics.
A working knowledge and practical experience with drug substance, crystallisation, and material characterisation.
