Key Responsibilities:

  • Create visually appealing and user-friendly website designs, including mock-ups and prototypes.
  • Conduct user research and testing to optimize website usability and user experience.
  • Develop and maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies.
  • Translate design mock-ups into clean, efficient, and well-documented code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript; an understanding of server-side coding would be beneficial).
  • Develop responsive websites that adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes and devices.
  • Implement website functionality using JavaScript and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end with back-end systems.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely about design and technical concepts.
  • Present design concepts and technical ideas.
  • Contribute to the development of design guidelines and best practices.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • We will consider anyone for this position regardless of formal qualifications. Experience or a willingness to learn are more important to us.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout.
  • Experience in creating mock-ups and prototypes.
  • A portfolio showcasing a range of design styles and projects.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, especially the relationship between well-crafted HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with responsive web design and mobile-first development.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks and libraries, mainly Bootstrap, but other libraries might be a bonus.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (We use Git).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality work.

Summary:

As a Web Designer, you will be integral to creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites that enhance user experience and engagement. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will utilize your core skills in web design, HTML, CSS, and front-end development to deliver responsive designs.
