This role is based within an Education organisation that provides a nurturing and engaging environment for children from early years through to Sixth Form. The organisation prides itself on fostering a balanced educational journey and a collaborative culture.

Working closely with the Bursar, the HR Officer will support the delivery of effective HR services across the school, providing advice and guidance aligned to policy, legislation and best practice. The role covers a broad spectrum of generalist HR tasks including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and employee wellbeing.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting managers in applying policies across performance, absence, and disciplinary matters
  • Keeping up to date with employment law and providing practical guidance
  • Managing recruitment processes, including safer recruitment and onboarding
  • Overseeing the administration of pay reviews and employee benefits
  • Maintaining HR systems and ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements
  • Coordinating the appraisal process and overseeing induction programmes
  • Managing visa sponsorship processes and the school’s Home Office licence
  • Handling employee relations casework, including liaison with legal advisors
  • Supporting staff wellbeing and Occupational Health referrals
  • Ensuring Single Central Register and statutory HR compliance

You will have previous HR generalist experience, ideally within an education setting, and be educated to degree level. A CIPD qualification is preferred, or a willingness to undertake training. Strong communication skills, a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders are essential.
