Your new opportunity

Quarriers Ayrshire Youth Housing Service are currently recruiting a part-time Transition Mentor to join our dedicated team supporting young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or threatened with homelessness in the South Ayrshire area.

As a Transition Mentor, you will work with young people to provide housing support, mentoring them to achieve their goals and ambitions. You will offer advice related to employment, education, and social community integration. Some supported young people may have experienced trauma, so building long-lasting relationships and trust is essential to ensure each person feels safe and heard. You will mentor within a community outreach service, visiting individuals across South Ayrshire, so willingness to travel is required. You will have the autonomy to manage your own time, balancing home-based work and community visits based on service needs.

Working pattern

This is a part-time, permanent role working 20 hours per week on a 3-week rolling rota. Working hours are 10pm – 8am, with additional payment for night shifts from 12am – 7am. The rota includes:

• Week 2 – Saturday & Sunday night
• Week 3 – Thursday & Friday night

• Transferable life skills to support and enable individuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on positive outcomes.
• Resilience, reliability, and strong listening skills.
• Proactivity and ability to build lasting relationships.
• A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle are essential due to the outreach nature of the role.
