We are looking for a talented Delicatessen Manager to join an expanding Farm Shop at their location near Cambridge. The business boasts a very impressive product offering - a wide selection of fruit, vegetables, bakery and dairy products carefully selected from local artisan producers and hosts an in-house butchery.

Working in conjunction with the Butchery Manager, the Deli Manager will take responsibility for the operational side of the retail shop. You will manage the day-to-day operation, maximising sales/profit margins, keeping stock levels accurate and reducing wastage. Ultimately you will be tasked with leading the Retail operation and delivering an exceptional experience for a discerning customer base.

The role will involve:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the Farm Shop – delivering a “top quality” product to a highly satisfied customer whilst maximising sales and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to Day Operations Management
  • Managing, motivating and developing a dedicated team
  • Ensuring the customer experience is second to none.
  • Responsibility for stock control/rotation and waste management
  • Maximising retail sales opportunities
  • Maximising profit margin whilst offering value to customers
  • Food stock management, replenishment and ordering
  • Product procurement - ensuring the offering is relevant and seasonal.
  • Ensuring displays are innovative, practical and maintained, and that these are refreshed on a regular basis
  • Complying with all company HR, HSE, Food Safety, Environmental and Fire regulations and adhering to all current legislation.

To be successful you will need to have a love for food and be inspired and motivated by a passion for quality and exceptional service.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record of success in a similar role
  • Be commercially aware with strong experience of food retail – ideally this will include purchasing and product merchandising
  • Have a good understanding of food safety practices, stock control and stock rotation.
  • Possess excellent people skills
  • Be competent and confident with computer work with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Be a real foodie, who is passionate about food, quality and provenance
  • Be results driven and happy to work to sales targets
  • Be highly organised and reliable
  • Be a team player, energetic, enthusiastic and dynamic
  • Have exceptional customer service skills
  • Be professional and well-presented
