Buxted Construction Ltd has a position for an ambitious, self-motivated trainee quantity surveyor. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will rapidly be given responsibility and quickly see results of your work, with a real chance for career development and progression.
As a trainee surveyor with the company, the successful applicant can expect to become responsible for the measuring and checking of quantities from subcontractor invoices namely brickwork and surfacing. With support from a senior surveyor and working closely with the surveying and estimating team, they will work to develop their understanding of measurement and subsequently the overseeing of all commercial aspects of a contract.
The primary responsibilities of this position are as follows:
- Complete a 5 year part-time one day release BSC Honours degree in quantity surveying. All course fees will be fully funded by Buxted Construction Ltd.
- Assume responsibility for measuring and checking all brickwork and surfacing contractor invoices across a range of sites. This will involve site visits to measure actual quantities completed.
- Assist estimating team in measuring quantities and preparing bills of quantities for prospective tenders.
- Assist the surveying team in measuring variations on existing live contracts.
- As you progress and gain more experience, you will be given more responsibility with the view to taking responsibility for the surveying of a number of small sites after your first 3 years of your training.
- Once qualified, you will assume all surveying responsibilities associated with several medium to large sites.
The type of projects that you could expect to be involved with will predominantly be new build housing. This includes:
- Site Clearance
- Remediation Works
- Construction of new Adopted Roads and Sewers. (Section 278 and 104 Works)
- Substructures (Trench Fill, Piled, Rafts, Ground Improved)
- Reinforced concrete basements with podium slab
- Multi-storey reinforced concrete frames
- Roads, footpaths and car parks.
- Bridges and Culverts.
- Retaining Structures
- Stormwater Attenuation Systems
- Drainage
- Services
- Hard and soft landscaping
