We are exclusively partnering with a leading Managing General Agent (MGA) to appoint a Tax Underwriter to join its specialist transactional risk practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for a junior tax lawyer or tax professional seeking a transition from practice into a highly commercial role within the insurance market.

The Role

This newly created position sits within the Tax Liability Underwriting division and offers direct exposure to high-value and high-profile transactions. The successful candidate will support the underwriting of bespoke tax insurance policies, working closely with senior underwriters and stakeholders across legal, tax, and corporate domains.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing tax opinions, legal documentation, and transaction structures to assess potential liabilities
  • Drafting tailored insurance policies and underwriting documentation with a strong emphasis on accuracy and technical clarity
  • Collaborating with internal underwriting teams, external counsel, and brokers to evaluate risk and develop commercially viable solutions
  • Contributing to the development of underwriting guidelines and best practices as part of a high-performing, collegiate team

Candidate Profile

This role would particularly suit:

  • A junior tax lawyer (NQ–2 PQE)
  • A tax professional at Assistant Manager – Senior Manager level (or equivalent) within a Big 4 or top-tier accountancy firm, with experience in transactional tax, advisory and drafting experience

Previous insurance experience is not required; full training and mentorship will be provided. However, a genuine interest in the intersection of tax, law, and commercial risk is essential.
