We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a brand new 4-bed childrens home in Hoddesdon (EN11). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in leading and managing a dedicated team that provides high-quality care to children and young people. The childrens home is registered to provide support for children and young people who have emotional, complex, social, and behavioural needs. The ethos of the childrens homes is to provide safety and stability to children in a time of great difficulty and change, enabling them to continue with everyday life even though they may be facing tough challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and overseeing a team of staff
  • Lead by example, providing guidance and support to the team to ensure excellent care for children and young people
  • Ensure that childrens care plans are implemented effectively and continuously monitored
  • Develop and mentor staff to ensure high standards of practice, providing training and support where needed
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with children, helping them develop life skills and resilience
  • Monitor childrens behaviours, progress, and well-being and ensure timely reporting
  • Ensure the home is compliant with safeguarding and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records
  • Liaise with social workers, families, and other professionals to provide holistic support

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a residential childrens home is essential
  • NVQ Level 4 in Leadership and Management for Care Services (or equivalent qualification) is required
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and management skills
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Commitment to supporting children with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
  • Full UK driving licence is essential
