A fantastic opportunity has opened for a dedicated project manager with significant port experience, to join a market leading firm that employs a global workforce of more than 400 people. Our client delivers specialist bulk handling solutions, worldwide terminal operations, and logistics management, supporting developing nations to improve quality and reduce costs in the handling of bulk cargoes in the maritime sector.

As the company’s GEO Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for implementing Engineering and Operational standards, assisting in continuous improvement of all areas. You’ll also be providing Project Engineering support for the Group’s Port and Terminal Development Activities. Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide design and engineering support for new ports & terminal developments
  • Provide engineering and operational support and assistance to all operational areas
  • Be the designated Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for designated engineering and operational activities
  • Implementing engineering and operational standards, assisting in continuous improvement of all areas
  • Monitor and review maintenance standards, and use of CMMS
  • Support commercial enquiries with feasibility studies and 3D conceptual models
  • Build Opex and Capex models for potential port projects
  • Specification and procurement of materials handling machinery and associated equipment
  • Project engineering support for port & terminal developments
  • Monitor and support the maintenance and technical aspects of existing terminal operations
  • Carrying out field visits and evaluating engineering, operations and project progress/activities
  • Conduct equipment inspections and write up condition reports
  • Evaluating the standards and practices of maintenance activities
  • Identifying equipment trends and providing solutions to improve performance and/or reliability
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience or training
Skill & Experience
  • Time served apprenticeship in Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering discipline, with associated academic qualifications, minimum of ONC. Or Qualified Project or Operations manager with significant Port Experience and knowledge
  • Knowledge of Port Engineering and/or Operations
  • Interpretation and understanding of engineering drawings (electrical, hydraulic, structural)
  • Self-motivated and able to work to strict deadlines in a fast paced, customer focused environment
  • Willingness to travel and work internationally, demonstrating cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills, demonstrating a systematic approach to complex problems and situations
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD & Sketchup, and competence with IT including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Personable, with good written & verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and a genuine team player
  • Proficient use of 3D modelling software (Inventor, Solid works, Sketchup or similar)
  • Organised and accurate with high attention to detail
  • A pro-active problem solver, with the ability to multi-task, manage workloads and prioritise
  • Attend any relevant training courses to develop knowledge and skills
  • An interest in shipping, ports, and terminals industry, with an eye on world current affairs
Desirable
  • Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Professionally registered MIMechE, MIET, MIEEE or equivalent
