You must be an experienced Fire Engineer with over 5 years post-qualification experience, with a passion for ensuring fire safety across both existing and new-build developments. Our Client is seeking someone like you to join their dynamic team, leading Fire Risk Assessments and ensuring safety compliance on significant projects across the UK.

Please note: you must have 5 years experience in the UK construction industry. This is a hybrid role that combines both on-site and in-house responsibilities.

You will play a key role in delivering comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments, including both visual and fully intrusive inspections, while also contributing to the leadership and growth of our team. Just as important is your ability to communicate effectively with clients, particularly Local Authorities and Housing Associations, advising them on fire safety compliance and regulatory standards.

  • Minimum 5 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in fire engineering.
  • Proven expertise conducting External Wall Risk Assessments.
  • Proficiency completing Type 1-4 FRAs and understanding compartmentation in both small and large-scale projects.
  • Hands-on experience with refurbishment and re-cladding projects of various sizes.
  • Solid knowledge of fire protection systems and the ability to provide strategic guidance on fire safety measures.
  • MIFireE (Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers)
  • MIFSM (Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers)
  • C Build E MCABE (Chartered Building Engineer, Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers)

Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works and other key stakeholders. Undertake Fire Risk Assessments in line with current legislation. Advise clients of pragmatic, cost effective solutions to mitigate risk where possible. Comply with, or improve upon, client Key Performance Indicators. Working with and developing a Quality Management System. Report on a regular basis on status of projects and update Fee Projections. Assist the Director in Charge with Business Development, cultivating new and existing Clients to promote our Building Surveying service offering.

Fire Risk Assessment:

  • Review information relating to fire safety that the client has accrued for their buildings to date and advise them of its suitability.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments both internally and externally in accordance with current industry guidance and compile a detailed report.
  • Provide CPD to clients making them aware of their obligations as building owners.
  • Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers where requested.
  • Work with the project team to produce cost effective, pragmatic remedial solutions where possible.
  • Work with the project team to compile the ER’s.
  • Peer review the contractors proposals.
  • Liaise closely with the clerk of works and the contractor and carry out compliance checks of the works as they progress.
