We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for structural steel projects. This role requires a deep understanding of structural steelwork, materials, and labour costs, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects.
- Analyse design proposals and related documents to identify potential challenges and opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify project requirements and specifications.
- Prepare and maintain a comprehensive database of costs for materials, labour and equipment related to structural steel projects.
- Produce detailed bid proposals, including itemized costs and project timelines.
- Conduct site appraisals to assess existing conditions and gather information for accurate cost inclusions.
- Monitor and update estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in negotiations with clients and principal contractors as necessary to secure projects.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to enhance estimation accuracy and competitiveness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the structural steel industry or related fields is essential for this role. Please note that candidates without this will not be considered.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel construction techniques and materials.
- Proficient in estimation software and tools (Company generated system).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
