Jersey is a world-class centre of excellence for private wealth management. An opening exists for an experienced trust and private wealth lawyer to join a respected practice advising private clients, family offices, trust companies and other intermediaries on some of the most innovative and interesting private wealth management work in the market. The team is in growth mode and for the right person can accommodate at Associate or Senior Associate level.
Working closely with Partners, you will play a key role in ensuring work is executed to the highest standards and particularly for a more senior hire, you will be influential in assisting in the development of junior colleagues. All lawyers are client-facing and involved in business development, and more senior associates will be supported in growing their network, making this ideal for someone who wants to build the foundations for future partnership.
The Channel Islands
For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big-ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 3-4 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas (where required) and relocation.
Requirements
You will need strong credentials from a good UK/offshore/international trusts/private wealth practice. You will have at least 1 year of pqe but more senior applications are most welcome (particularly from lawyers with experience of advising high-net-worth private clients on complex wealth management structures). Previous experience of working with international clients and/or advising on offshore trusts would be an asset but is not essential. You will be admitted in the UK or an equivalent Commonwealth jurisdiction.
Package
Good salary (negotiable, depending on experience) with reduced tax rate (20%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).
