NDT Level 3 technical responsibility for Dowty Propellers range of composite and metallic products. Responsibility to ensure the structural integrity and quality of the product and training a team in a range of NDT techniques including:

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) - Contact and immersion methods: A, B and C scan
  • Radiographic Testing (RT) - X Ray, Digital
  • Eddy current Testing (ET) - Static and dynamic phase analysis methods
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) - fluorescent wet continuous method (only used in R&O)
  • Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT) - Fluorescent Post emulsified, solvent removable
  • Bond Testing (BT)
  • Acid Etch Inspection

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and approve NDT methods and techniques and supporting procedures in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage qualification and ongoing approval of a team of NDT technicians and contractors, develop training plans and keep records for all NDT levels and determine techniques to be applied across the product range.
  • Manage relationship with Company nominated Level 3, approved training partner and service providers.
  • Work closely with design and development teams supporting NPI programs.
  • Directly support daily operations offering guidance on detected defects and work closely with MRB engineers to determine corrective actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Essential knowledge for this role is qualified NDT at L3 in one or both of the following disciplines:
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) - Contact and immersion methods: A, B and C scan
  • Radiographic Testing (RT) - X Ray, digital
  • Ideal candidate will have:
    • Degree educated in a relevant Engineering discipline or Recognised apprenticeship plus significant relevant experience
    • At least Level 2 qualification in a number of NDT techniques.
    • If not already qualified candidates will be expected to complete Level 3 qualifications in line with NDT standards.
