The Company
We're supporting a successful national business who've grown significantly in recent years through acquisition and are now looking to implement a new ERP solution to support the current, larger organisation and allow for future expansion. Based near York their customer base is UK wide and they offer a number of specialised services, delivering work to a highly regulated standards.
The Role
The Functional Analyst will collaborate closely with the business to ensure a strong return on investment through the effective implementation of technology solutions, particularly focusing on our IFS ERP system. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technological capabilities. The primary responsibilities will include analysing current business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and developing solutions that optimize efficiency and drive productivity. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of business operations and a deep technical knowledge of the IFS ERP system, with the ability to implement system enhancements either independently or in collaboration with development teams. A strong focus on continuous improvement is essential. This position will be particularly centred on the Field Service and Projects components of the IFS ERP solution. However, experience working across other areas of IFS ERP is desirable.

The successful candidate will have experience as a Functional Analyst or Functional Consultant, with the ability to liaise effectively between business and technical teams, interpreting business needs and transforming them into system configurations.
Responsibilities:
- Analysis: Work closely with business users and stakeholders to identify potential areas for improvement. Thoroughly analyse and document these opportunities, evaluating different technology solutions to achieve them.
- Solution Design: Develop functional specifications, system workflows, and detailed design documentation to enable the implementation of solutions.
- System Configuration & Testing: Configure the IFS ERP system to implement agreed improvements or work with development teams for technical configuration, ensuring solutions are tested effectively. Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and address any issues or concerns that arise during this phase.
- Project Management: Plan, manage, and deliver system improvements, ensuring that each solution is completed on time, within budget, and meets the desired quality standards.
- User Support & Training: Provide ongoing support to business users, addressing any system-related issues or questions. Develop and deliver user training materials to ensure proficiency with the system.
- System Maintenance & Documentation: Ensure all system configurations, requirements, and processes are fully documented and maintained for future reference.
The Person
The ideal candidate for this role will bring a strong background in the IFS ERP solution, a solid understanding of business processes, excellent interpersonal skills, and a dedicated focus on continuous improvement and delivering exceptional service.
Essential:
- A degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an IT Functional Analyst or in a comparable role.
- In-depth knowledge of business processes, system integrations, and the software development lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience with the IFS ERP system.
- Proficiency in gathering and documenting business requirements, creating process maps, and developing functional specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience working effectively within cross-functional teams and the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
- Practical experience with system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or similar credentials.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Experience in the manufacturing or services industry.
The role will be mainly remote however there is a need to visit the office, near York, occasionally. Candidates will need to have a right to work in the UK, preferably ILR or British citizenship as once the implementation is complete the company will be looking to move into a continual improvement phase so are looking to make a long term placement into this role. There's a generous benefits package and salary of up to £75,000.
