ALTEN UK is looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to support the design validation and electrical maturity of a major defence programme. Working on cutting-edge submarine power systems, you will carry out detailed analysis and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help shape the future of naval technology. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of complex power systems
  • Manage and maintain the electrical load budget to support design development
  • Develop and validate electrical models using industry-standard tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders on electrical power architecture
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, calculations, and presentations outlining findings and recommendations
  • Support the verification and validation (V&V) activities of the electrical platform
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with high power and medium voltage distribution systems
  • Hands-on experience with electrical load budget analysis and load flow studies
  • Proficient in power system analysis tools such as ETAP, Simulink/Simscape, or MATLAB
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills within a technical environment
  • Previous experience in the Defence, Aerospace, or high-integrity engineering sectors preferred
  • Must be eligible for UKEO Security Clearance
