Assistant Planner
West Midlands Region
£28k-£35k
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and review of planning applications, zoning proposals, and development plans.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate planning proposals and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Support senior planners in the preparation of reports, presentations, and planning documents.
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to land use, transportation, and environmental impacts.
- Help engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, developers, and the public, to gather input on planning projects.
- Conduct research on current planning policies, legislation, and urban development trends.
- Maintain and update planning records, maps, and GIS data.
- Assist in the preparation of feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
- Provide administrative support to the planning team as needed.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Geography, or a related field.
- Strong interest in town planning and urban development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with GIS software or mapping tools is a plus.
- A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a passion for creating sustainable communities
