Location - Leiston, Suffolk
Purpose of the role: As Works Manager on our brand new £100m+ major highways project in Leiston, Suffolk, you will take full responsibility for ensuring works are executed safely, within programme and to the highest quality standards.
- Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
- Coordinate and control initial site set up as required.
- Oversee day to day construction and ensure coordination with the site team, client and contractors.
- Attend meetings with and maintain necessary and regular contact with clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure all site resources are utilised effectively with minimal waste.
- Ensure effective coordination of resources working on the project.
- Ensure temporary and permanent works are delivered in accordance with the design.
- Careful material and plant management to meet programme and financial objectives.
- Assist in planning and programming with site engineering teams.
- Participate in site discipline meetings to aid effective coordination and delivery of the works.
- Ensure Permit to work systems, inductions and briefing are correctly carried out.
- Assist in identification of new processes, techniques and innovations on site.
About You:
- Strong focus on safety and effective communication with site teams and subcontractors.
- Skilled in executing construction work according to ITPs, quality standards, and safety documentation.
- Capable of delivering safety briefings, toolbox talks, and interpreting design drawings.
- Proven leadership with direct line management experience, team development, and mentoring.
- Relevant qualifications, including CSCS card, IOSH/NEBOSH, and membership in professional bodies like CIOB.
