Jewson Major Build Solutions in DURHAM is now recruiting for an Operations Manager Designate.
Location: 60 Damson Way, Dragonville Industrial Estate, Durham, DH1 2YN
Site Operation Hours: Monday to Friday 6am to 6pm (shifts to be agreed)
You will be required to:
- Manage all site costs including machining overheads, transport and labour costs
- Maintain and improve productivity & stock management
- Maintain and improve Quality of service
- Ensure all appraisals are conducted and goals set to develop individuals and the business
- Lead EHS standards within the operational environment
- Maintain business controls procedures
- Inspire, lead, motivate and develop the team to achieve operational excellence
- Ensure the correct staffing numbers are maintained to achieve productivity levels and recruit where appropriate
- Communicate changes in legislation, market developments, products and company news
- Manage interfaces within the business and other Jewson MBS operational teams to ensure totally integrated supply to the customer
- Encourage participation in problem solving and role development
- Ensure operational KPIs are achieved in all areas
- Promote and foster a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Desired:
- Strong and demonstrable experience in area of Operational management with up to 30 colleagues across Logistics, Transport, Mill, Yard/Warehouse, Stock and Office
- Strong numerical ability with commercial understanding (margin, profit, etc.)
- IT literate in systems relevant to role i.e. MS Office (Intermediate Excel)
- Proven ability to utilise resources and problem solving to achieve results
- Excellent Planning & organisational skills
- A level qualification or equivalent
- Proven experience of managing safety in an operational environment
- Experience of construction products
- Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
- Ability to identify and implement performance goals, priorities, recommend measures
- Experience of developing and delivering sustainable changes across a department/function
- Strong knowledge of customer/financial performance, risk management and understanding of financial statements
- Proven and demonstrable ability to understand customer and business requirements
- Self-motivated and results driven with the ability to lead, coach and motivate a team
- Knowledge and experience of logistics, inventory and warehousing management
- Able to demonstrate excellent relationship management and networking skills
- Driving Licence (travel and overnight stays are required)
- Working knowledge of H&S legislations, quality management systems and environmental legislations
- IOSH qualification or equivalent
- Health and Safety experience desirable
