Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proud to be supporting a dynamic and forward-thinking business in Dumbarton as they grow their Technical Team. We’re looking for a Design Control Systems Engineer to help deliver a range of exciting automation projects across global markets.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and developing electrical control systems and panels
  • Creating PLC programs and HMI graphics (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
  • Producing E&I circuit drawings using industry-standard CAD tools (experience with EPlan or ELCAD a bonus)
  • Developing communication protocols: ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet
  • Collaborating with internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Testing control systems and panels in-house before deployment
  • Supporting on-site commissioning and customer meetings (travel ~25%)
  • Troubleshooting faults and interpreting legacy PLC code
  • Delivering accurate technical documentation and supporting product development

What We’re Looking For:

  • Professional electrical qualification: HNC or above in Electrical or Engineering discipline
  • Strong background in control systems, automation, and PLC programming
  • Proven experience in a project engineering environment
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and deliver technical solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel internationally as part of project delivery (approx. 25%)
