Our Award winning client is in urgent need of a Linux Administrator to join their expanding team. The person is responsible for deployment, configuration and maintenance of my clients systems. The role has a wider scope to assist with all server-related tasks company wide, and work with the lead system administrator and the software team on new solution designs. The role generally requires someone with a good level technical implementation background in infrastructure with some experience of delivering technical solutions.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The person is responsible for deployment, configuration and maintenance of systems. The role has a wider scope to assist with all server-related tasks company wide, and work with the lead system administrator and the software team on new solution designs. The role generally requires someone with a technical implementation background in infrastructure with real world experience of delivering technical solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer live database systems (MySQL/MongoDB/Linux).
  • Setup and configure new or existing database systems with master/slave replication.
  • Conducting problem analysis and generating case documentation for escalation.
  • Backup of existing databases and logs.
  • Management of the IT ticket queue.
  • Documentation of procedures/policies.
  • Management of Servers/Infrastructure (Linux/Windows).
  • Implementation of security policies.
  • Maintaining and extending monitoring, metrics, and alerting systems using software platform Site24x7.
  • Provide on call support per rota (also provide escalation).
  • Support, as may from time to time be required, the company’s obligations regarding Data Protection and Information Security.

PROFILE

The role requires someone who is committed to quality, has a high attention to detail, works well with others and had a can-do attitude. The person will be dealing with problems at their own pace, as such it will need a good time-management skill.

You will have had exposure to most of the following:

  • Linux administration (Debian/Ubuntu)/Bash Scripting.
  • Database Administration (RDS/MySQL/MongoDB).
  • AWS Experience (VPC, EC2, ELB, RDS, etc).
  • Cloud Computing (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • MySQL 5.5+ Administration.
  • User Authentication (LDAP/Kerberos).
  • Virtualisation (VMWare/Hyper-V/Xen).
  • Network Knowledge (TCP/UDP/VPN/DNS).
  • WSUS & Active Directory.
  • Monitoring Solutions (Nagios/Cacti/Site24x7).
  • Automation technologies (Ansible/Puppet/Chef).
  • Ability to triage, prioritise and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to switch tasks to adapt to business requirements.

  • Degree level or equivalent education is expected for this role.
  • No specific qualification or certifications are expected for this role.
  • Able to obtain UK security clearance.
