Due to exciting growth and expansion, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Underwriter to join a specialist Property Lending company in London. Specializing in bridging finance, you will be responsible for supporting the underwriting teams in assessing and processing loan applications, ensuring all are thoroughly reviewed and meet the lending criteria.
Duties of the Assistant Underwriter (Bridging Finance) include:
- Assist with the initial review and evaluation of bridging loan and buy-to-let mortgage applications, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and verified.
- Perform preliminary checks on applicants' creditworthiness and property valuations, while coordinating with brokers, clients, and stakeholders to gather relevant information.
- Keep application records accurate and up to date within the underwriting system, offering administrative support to the underwriting team as required.
- Follow up with introducers and brokers for any outstanding or pending documentation, ensuring timely responses.
- Manage communication with valuers and surveyors, coordinating property valuation instructions, inspections, and report delivery.
- Track invoice payments and ensure all financial records are kept current.
- Prepare new case files by conducting necessary searches such as Land Registry, AML, and KYC checks.
- Provide prompt updates and manage information received through email, post, and telephone to keep case files updated.
- Foster strong working relationships with brokers, clients, solicitors, and surveyors, delivering high-quality customer service.
- Handle additional tasks related to underwriting assistance as assigned by line managers, including formally managing valuers and scheduling appointments for property visits.
