We are currently recruiting for a Spa Duty Maintenance Engineer to join the team here at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh, working 5 days out of 7 including weekends. The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels.

Our award-winning One Spa is truly special, and we're in search of a dynamic duty engineer to help maintain its pristine condition. Each day will be different, with tasks ranging from replacing light bulbs and touching up paint to conducting daily pool tests and backwashing. In this unique role, you will be responsible for:

  • Addressing immediate spa repairs
  • Establishing preventative maintenance schedules
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our plant rooms
  • Assisting with hotel maintenance requests during peak times as needed

React to requests to assess and repair faults with all aspects of the buildings including HVAC, lighting & small power issues, plumbing problems, Pool plant and Thermal suite. Communication to ensure accurate record keeping is maintained for reporting.

Undertake and record regular Planned Preventative Maintenance and Health & Safety schedules to include:

  • Monthly emergency lighting testing
  • Tap/shower head descaling
  • Lighting checks
  • Temperature checks of water systems as specified in the site Water Risk Assessment
  • Fire alarm testing
  • Fire equipment checks
  • Meter readings
  • Running generator
  • Pool plant

Carry out Health & Safety testing to include the Control of Legionella. Take ownership of designated role as part of the Hotel emergency evacuation procedure. Assist in the main hotel for maintenance tasks as required.

We are looking for someone who is energetic and self-motivated and who is a jack of all trades. Ideally you will have at least 2 years' experience at something similar. Our expectations of you will be that you are able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and have a strong desire to improve on your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent Guest Service Skills
  • Must have previous experience of working in a maintenance environment, preferably hotels
  • Knowledge of H&S procedures e.g. COSHH, Risk Assessments and safe systems of work
  • Awareness of Energy Management and the requirement to run systems efficiently and cost effectively
  • Must have a good Level and understanding of Health & Safety
  • Previous Fire Warden trained
  • Pool Plant experience. Pool plant operator qualified preferable
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fire alarm and sprinkler systems
  • Good all round knowledge of day to day maintenance, with a special focus on plumbing and/or boilers
  • Requires understanding and using various hand tools, electrical tools, and test and inspection equipment
