This role would suit a proven electromagnetic design engineer with an excellent academic background, strong alignment to research and product development to e-machines for automotive electric vehicle applications (or other e-mobility domains).
NOTE: Experience of PMSM design experience using MotorCAD is crucial.
Location: onsite , Farnham, Surrey, UK.
This role involves working within a team that is involved with new concepts, research projects and innovating new electric motor technologies for the automotive electric vehicle market.
More: Electric motor design engineer:
- A PhD degree in electrical machine design or equivalent (Masters with solid experience in electric motor design / electromagnetic simulation, etc)
- Strong communication skills in English – both written and spoken.
- Ideally at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in qualified design work (PMSM , radial flux, axial flux motors, etc) This may include relevant PhD work if aligned to electric vehicle systems.
- High proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software
- Ideally experience in one of the following; – solid mechanics, thermal management, power electronics and control
- Experienced in the design and simulation of electrical machines for e-mobility (automotive electric vehicles, marine or aerospace)
- Use of tools such as MotorCAD, JMAG, Altair Flux, Ansys Maxwell, etc
The company is involved with the design and manufacture of innovative electric motor solutions for automotive electric vehicle applications.
The role requires a strong academic with proven track record of research, analysis, simulation and development of e-machines for e-mobility applications. This in turn requires strong electromagnetic simulation experience and the ability to take concepts to prototypes, build, test and validate in a laboratory environment.
Candidates should be good communicators, be able to work in a small team, keep abreast of modern / current electromagnetic design / electrical machine design and simulation technologies, and of course have an innovative and creative mindset to solve problems and find solutions.
You will also work with academic institutions on the research, design, and simulation of electromagnetic applications, more specifically focused on electrical machines for e-mobility mostly (automotive, marine and aerospace).
This Electric motor Design Engineer role is commutable from Basingstoke, Alton, Farnham, Farnborough, Woking, Guildford, Petersfield, Camberley, and Winchester. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.
NOTE : Work visas can be supported for the right candidates. There can also be assistance with relocation pending individual situations.
