Join our team of skilled locum clerks who provide high quality clerking support to schools across the county. This flexible opportunity allows you to take on work throughout the year that fits with your other commitments.

The locum clerking service aids schools who require one off support for meetings that a substantive clerk is unable to attend, as well as longer term deployments to schools who know they may be without a substantive clerk for some time.

The role will require you to work effectively with the Governor and Clerking Services, chair of governors, headteacher and other governors at school that you are providing locum services to. You will be required to assist with the continuity of governing body business and observe confidentiality requirements. You will also advise on procedural and legislative matters to ensure the governing board works to the legal framework.

Tasks include the preparation and circulation of papers, attendance at meetings and minute taking. You may also undertake additional responsibilities for longer deployments.

It is recommended that applicants either hold a relevant award (BTEC level 3 in Clerk to the Governing Board), equivalent experience, or be prepared to work towards the East Sussex Clerk to Governors Accreditation Scheme.
