We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Safety Case Engineer to be based at our clients offices in Glasgow.
About the Role:
The Defence Industry Solutions Sector is growing and we are looking to recruit for a Senior Safety Case Engineer with extensive experience in nuclear infrastructure to join our Defence & Security business. This role will ideally be based close to our Glasgow office, and there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites as projects require.
Working within the Defence and Security business, you will be involved in planning, managing, and delivering programmes of work to support nuclear safety critical infrastructure, throughout the UK in a multidiscipline environment. The Defence & Security business provides an exciting mixture of consultancy, design and engineering support, along with delivery of challenging Defence projects, to major clients in the UK at a variety of sites across the nuclear and defence industries. Overseas, we are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe.
Our fantastic team holds a wealth of experience and expertise in the design and substantiation of safety related structures, systems and equipment. The ability to share knowledge and the development of new skills for career progression is what we pride ourselves in.
Key deliverables:
- Taking a lead role in the development of the appropriate and proportionate safety case including Nuclear, Product, Construction, Process and HSE.
- Ensuring technical quality and excellence of your work.
- Regular communication with clients and other design team members and participation in Design Reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs, SHERAs and stakeholder meetings.
- Contributing to the development of designs for complex facilities, systems and equipment.
- Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems.
- Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- An understanding of the principles of safety as applied on both military and civilian applications.
- Working knowledge of key legislation, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in delivering safety case documentation.
- Ability to produce safety case documentation to a high standard.
- Ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members.
Behavioural Characteristics:
A self motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and understands the need to follow process.
