Sitting at the heart of the Tax team, the Indirect Tax Manager will play a pivotal role in leading compliance and reporting for VAT and other indirect taxes across UK and Irish operations. This is a varied and business-facing role with scope to shape processes, influence decision-making, and work across major retail projects.
You’ll report directly to the Head of Tax and lead a small team of tax professionals. Your expertise will ensure robust compliance, mitigate tax risk, and enhance the efficiency of the business's indirect tax position.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee VAT compliance and reporting across UK, Ireland, and the Channel Islands
- Manage a team of Tax Accountants, including mentoring and development
- Act as the go-to advisor for all indirect tax matters across the business
- Partner with finance and operational teams to support commercial decision-making
- Drive improvements across tax systems and processes
- Work closely with IT to ensure the integrity of tax data within financial systems
- Manage indirect tax audits and liaise with tax authorities
- Monitor regulatory and legislative changes, providing proactive business advice
- A strong background in indirect tax gained in practice or industry
- Experience working in or with retail businesses is highly desirable
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and engage across functions
- Technically up to date and confident in handling complex tax issues
- Hands-on experience with SAP and Excel
- Able to work independently with sound commercial judgement
