WA is delighted to be working with a well-established global organisation in Glasgow to recruit a Finance Team Leader. This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into a leadership role within a fast-paced, high-performing finance operations team.
The Opportunity
This position is responsible for overseeing all payments and banking operations across multiple regions, ensuring processes run smoothly and controls are effectively maintained. You'll lead a team of four, manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and drive ongoing improvements across payments, reconciliations, and banking processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage payment runs, payroll, manual payments, and employee expenses
- Own and maintain the end-to-end payment calendar
- Ensure payments are compliant with audit and control standards
- Drive control enhancements and improvements to processes
Banking Reconciliations:
- Oversee daily bank statement reconciliations and ensure transactions are cleared in a timely manner
- Work closely with treasury and sales ledger teams to support working capital objectives
- Maintain direct debit mandates and banking templates
- Ensure deadlines are met for month-end close
People Leadership Development:
- Lead and develop a team through regular 1:1s, coaching, and performance planning
- Support cross-training and team-wide process understanding
Stakeholder Management Reporting:
- Provide data and reporting support to stakeholders across finance and operations
- Liaise with banks and external partners to resolve issues and improve services
What We're Looking For:
- Strong experience in payments and banking
- Strong technical skills, particularly with Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.) and SAP
- Experience managing controls, audit compliance, and process improvement initiatives
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership and coaching experience in a finance operations environment
- Self-starter who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and resilient under pressure
