Job Purpose: To provide high-quality teaching and support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, fostering their academic and personal development in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH. Create a safe, structured classroom that promotes emotional and academic growth. Use assessment tools like Boxall Profiles to track progress and adapt teaching strategies.
  • SEMH Support: Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional development. Implement strategies for behaviour management and emotional resilience. Work closely with the SENCo and external agencies to support tailored interventions for students.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the pastoral team and other staff to deliver holistic support for students. Contribute to the development and improvement of SEMH provision in the school.
  • Safeguarding & Well-Being: Ensure the safeguarding of students, following all school policies. Promote mental health and well-being in the classroom and wider school community.
  • Assessment & Reporting: Monitor and report on student progress, making adjustments to interventions as necessary. Prepare reports for parents and external agencies, ensuring students' needs are communicated clearly.

Qualifications & Experience: Degree with QTS and relevant experience in teaching students with SEMH needs. Experience with behaviour management strategies and working with external agencies.

Personal Attributes: Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students with SEMH. Strong communication skills with a focus on collaboration. A commitment to safeguarding and supporting students' mental well-being.
