We are working with a vibrant and well-respected secondary school to recruit a Subject Leader of English to lead their English department on a permanent contract starting in the new academic year from September 2025. The Role:
- Lead and deliver English across KS3 - KS4 and up to GCSE Level
- Deliver and ensure high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to a diverse range of learning styles
- Manage a team of 3-5 Teachers and support staff
- Promote and manage a supportive department that values innovation, fieldwork, and cross-curricular links
- Contribute to the wider school life including trips, clubs, and parent/community events
Key Requirements:
- A degree in English and Qualified Teaching Status in the UK (QTS)
- Experience as a Deputy of Head of Department / Subject Leader
- A track record of effective and inspiring teaching at secondary level including GCSE
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and willing to contribute to extracurricular and pastoral responsibilities
- Managerial experience within an English department
