The Role
We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to support the Finance Officer in the day to day running of the department. You will play a crucial role in the team ensuring smooth processing of administrative tasks and support on various projects as required. Reporting to the Finance Officer, you will be a collaborative team player with an eye for detail. This is a part time role and we are open to what this looks like for the right candidate – whether it be working shorter days across the working week or 3 full days per week.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Finance Officer to ensure accurate end-to-end accounting.
- Promptly processing invoices and credit notes and allocating them to the relevant purchase orders.
- Following up on outstanding invoices and being the first point of contact for supplier and employee invoicing queries.
- Support business teams with the purchase order process to ensure all invoices are supported by approved POs.
- Assist with month-end tasks, including bank postings and reconciliations, to support timely financial reporting.
- Manage the monthly reconciliations of employee expenses.
- Checking and updating ledger balances.
- Scanning, filing and logging all relevant account documents.
- Ensuring accounting systems remain accurate and up to date.
- Support the Finance Officer and Senior Leadership Team with ad hoc Finance priorities and projects as required.
Skills and experience
- Previous experience in Finance is essential.
- Ability to analyse financial data.
- Intermediate skills in Excel.
- High standard of accuracy with financial and statistical data.
- Strong organisation, prioritisation skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Strong communication skills.
- An eye for process improvement.

Basic Annual Salary: £30,000 (full time equivalent).
