The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

Our thriving socio-economic team is expanding and we are on the lookout for individuals with experience in socio-economic analysis – from Senior Planner to Associate Director. This includes economic impact and benefit assessments, housing need, and market intelligence.

You will also be working on:

  • employment land supply and need assessments
  • social infrastructure assessments
  • economic and socio-economic impact assessment/EIA socio-economic chapters
  • health impact assessments
  • economic benefits statements
  • social and wellbeing benefits statements
  • housing need

You will be part of a growing team and will have the opportunity to collaborate with our talented people on work across the UK, including large and small scale projects, appeals and planning applications. Key sectors are residential, commercial, retail and regeneration. You will be working with national house builders, land promoters, and landowners, and will be given the opportunity to be a key part of our growing business.

You will be:

  • co-ordinating and preparing need and impact assessments (health, socio-economic, economic and housing need) and associated processes for a range of developments
  • reviewing technical reports and working with technical consultants to progress them to the necessary standard for senior sign-off
  • conducting research and site appraisals on projects for our client base
  • assisting with policy representations
  • providing planning appeal assistance, if required
  • actively seeking opportunities for business development in the team, as well as internally and externally
  • growing your own network

You will need:

  • demonstrable previous experience in a similar role working in a town planning environment/ consultancy
  • a relevant Planning qualification / MSc in Town Planning
  • a sound and demonstrable knowledge of the planning system, EIA, plan promotion
  • a broad understanding of social and economic issues
  • a track record in either socio-economic assessment (forming part of EIA), economic impact or housing need
  • proficiency in Microsoft packages
  • a membership of RTPI or RICS or working towards membership
  • demonstrable experience in business development and attracting new clients

Ideally, you will have good existing connections within the development sector and be highly personable. The ability to work efficiently and effectively with more junior colleagues on projects is also helpful.
