Freedom Networks are currently recruiting a Senior Business Development Manager – DNO to support the growth of the Networks business through raising awareness of the organisation's capability and specifically seeking to increase share of the DNO market. Your focus will be building strong relationships and increasing our framework opportunities. Working in close collaboration with the Key Account Director and Regional Director, you’ll play a key role in developing new business with National Grid, Western Power Distribution, and other DNOs, while managing existing relationships to drive growth across our regional portfolio.
The Senior Business Development Manager will have strong DNO relationship experience and an excellent understanding of end user DNO requirements. The person will be based in the North, preferably near Leeds.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Maintain and develop existing customer relationships through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods.
- Work across DNO’s specifically NPg and SPEN to ensure we have frameworks in place to maximise Freedom's offer.
- Expand relationships with existing customers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives.
- Develop new markets and customers in line with Networks BD Strategy.
- Take ownership of tenders and PQQs and work to ensure all tenders/bids are delivered on time to exceptional standards of quality.
- Plan and manage personal business portfolio/territory/business according to an agreed market development strategy.
- Promote Freedom/NGB cross selling and promote inter-business relationships.
- Monitor market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports.
- Attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organisational levels.
- High levels of sales in a very competitive utility/contracting environment.
- Track record of ‘opening doors’ and getting meetings with the right, influential people.
- Sufficient technical knowledge to be credible in front of potential customers many of whom will have a technical background.
- Confidence presenting in front of Senior Managers and Directors of target organisations.
- Knowledge of electrical substation systems (e.g., transformers, switchgear) and DNO regulations (e.g., ED2).
It would be great if you also had (but it’s not essential):
- DNO authorisation for substation access (support can be provided to achieve this).
- Experience working within DNO organisations such as National Grid, Western Power Distribution, or other utility providers.
