We’re the largest privately-owned mortgage network in the UK. Our goal is to continue to be the best home for mortgage advisers, protection specialists, equity release experts and general insurance professionals, whatever their size or location. Due to continued growth, we are looking to expand our compliance team at our head office in Leicester with a new Compliance Review Officer.
The Role
- Complete ongoing Financial ‘fitness’ checks for the network, including Appointed Representative (AR) firms, individual controllers and advisors.
- Analysis of the data provided to consider whether the AR firm or individual poses a risk to the network or consumers.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained, concerns are escalated and take any corrective action where appropriate.
Key Tasks:
- Maintain records of new firms, controllers, advisers, and trainees on the network systems, cross-reference with our database and schedule appropriate reviews.
- Update records to remove firms, controllers, advisers, and trainees that have left the network to ensure reviews are no longer requested.
- Assess and carry out desk based financial reviews within agreed authority levels to sign off the reviews with recommendations made - This will include documenting personal assets and liabilities and recommending a risk level ensuring tasks are followed up until fully completed.
- Identify and manage high risk controllers, advisers and trainees implementing regular reviews, updating systems and advisers’ record. Communicating to Regional Compliance Manager’s (RCM), AR principal regarding their adviser’s current situation.
- Provide appropriate guidance to AR’s and their advisers where routine monitoring identifies areas for improvement. IE non-payment of any credit commitment.
- Report any areas of risk identified to the Line Manager and RCM agreeing remedial action where appropriate.
- Produce MI reports as directed.
- Maintain records of all decisions concerning the financial reviews.
- Report any breaches in line with the network Breaches policy, ensuring a record is held on file.
- Improve other network staff members understanding of the financial FIT check requirements.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role within the financial services sector.
- Knowledge of FCA Handbook and FIT requirements.
- Ability to maintain and follow defined procedures, with confidence to make suggestions for improvement to internal procedures.
- Experience of working under pressure, working to tight deadlines, and exceeding these.
Qualifications:
- CeMAP or equivalent professional qualification (desirable) or part qualification.
Personal Qualities:
- Highly self-motivated and with strong personal discipline to meet key objectives.
- Recognises the conduct expected when in a regulated role.
- Confident and assured manner when discussing financial services regulatory matters, whilst maintaining an informative and consultative style.
- A real desire to provide support and to assist the network to stay safe in the highly regulated environment.
- Flexible attitude to engaging with other tasks within the compliance team environment that are commensurate with this role.

This is a permanent role, based at our Leicester head office. Normal working hours are 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working will be available upon successful completion of your 6-month probation. We’re a non-sponsoring organisation - you will need to have the right to work in the UK.
