We are recruiting on behalf of our client with cerebral palsy, who is based in Maidenhead. Our client is looking for a like-minded individual to join his current team and assist him with daily living. This is an amazing opportunity to help make a positive impact on a person's life.

Start Date: ASAP

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 9:00am to 4:00pm (slightly later finish on Fridays)

Rate of Pay: ÂŁ14.00 per hour

Location: Maidenhead (SL6)

You must hold a valid UK driving licence for this role, as you will need to drive the client’s automatic vehicle. Care experience is not required, as full training in the client’s requirements will be provided. The client knows what needs to be done and can always direct you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to truly make a positive impact in somebody’s life. Our client has cerebral palsy and therefore is a full-time wheelchair user. He can manage his wheelchair independently around the house. Our client is looking for assistance with the below:

  • Assistance with personal care (pre- and post-showering)
  • Picking clothes and getting dressed for the day
  • Meal preparation, usually just breakfast and lunch
  • Occasional personal care (e.g., cutting fingernails)
  • Travelling to appointments and meetings (you will have access to my car)
  • Occasional outings (e.g., church or theatre), which will always be planned in advance

About Me

I have many hobbies, but the main driving force in my life is music. You’ll often hear me playing or composing on my piano, or more often than not, singing (especially musical theatre). I also volunteer with a local charity called Art Beyond Belief several times per week. These meetings are sometimes on Zoom and sometimes in person, for which I will need help travelling to.

My other passions include music technology, synthesisers, aircraft, retro and modern gaming, and listening to audiobooks—especially science fiction. I also like to work out several times a week, going to a local park and pushing myself around. On weekends, I enjoy visiting local towns, seeing friends, eating out at restaurants, and attending church events. I’ve recently gotten into Formula 1 and enjoy watching the races.

Please note that I do value my independence, and there may be some days where I will not be going out and may require less direct assistance. On such days, I hope you will be happy to occupy yourself. I have a spare room designated for my PAs, with a sofa and TV for you to relax in.

Your Responsibilities

  • Our client will need assistance with preparing breakfast and lunch on most days—these are generally simple meals that don’t require extensive cooking.
  • Our client can shower independently, but he will need help selecting clothes and getting dressed afterward.
  • He will require support in transporting him in his adapted vehicle to meetings, exercise sessions, church, or group events.
  • Additional tasks may include cutting nails, changing bed linen, and organising personal items.

What I Need from You

I am looking for someone I can have long conversations with. I love to talk! We don’t need to share all the same interests, but we do need to be compatible in that way. I also need someone who is laid-back in stressful situations—I can get quite anxious quickly, and a calm personality helps. I need you to be organised, as I can overlook important details and be forgetful. Clean & Valid UK driving licence is essential, and you should be comfortable driving into London (e.g., for a musical in the West End). I live with my parents, so it’s important that you get along with them and are respectful when in our family home. While there’s no obligation to do so, flexibility is greatly appreciated.

About You

  • Valid and clean UK driving licence (essential)
  • Comfortable driving into London, often at peak times
  • Comfortable around animals (the client has a small, friendly dog)
  • Care experience is not required (full training provided)
  • Physically fit, calm, patient, and caring
  • Organised and able to work on your own initiative
  • Good sense of humour
  • Non-smoker
  • Mature and responsible, with the ability to be assertive when necessary
  • Clean and tidy in both appearance and working habits

Application Process: To apply, please submit a cover letter describing your interests and explaining why you would be a suitable candidate for this unique and rewarding position.
