Job Purpose: Electric Motor Fitter The business aims to ensure that the skills and experience of our staff support the service requirements of our customers. The job holder for this post has a wider skill range covering experience as an electric motor fitter. The business thus ensures that such skills and experience enhance the service provision. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: Electric Motor Fitter The Electric Motor Winder/Fitter should have experience in working with a range of equipment including electric motors, gearboxes pumps and fan units. Key Accountabilities: Electric Motor Fitter * Dismantle a wide range of motors, e.g. AC, DC, brake motors * To have additional knowledge and experience of gearboxes, pumps, fan units, generators and other assemblies that include electric motors/windings; * Testing skills – both static and dynamic testing; to include surge testing, core loss testing, pump tests, dynamic no load testing etc. * To complete the relevant documentation and report on their faults (some may include environmental discharge), including test results at all stages of repair; * To inspect and test motor subassemblies, e.g. brakes, switches, force ventilation units; * To assemble motors and other rotating equipment for repair; * To test units following repair and assembly; * To be able to clean and prepare commutators for winding, including post winding processes such as undercutting etc; * To ta…
