Remote with travel

Allen & York are thrilled to be partnering with One Carbon World, a carbon neutral, not-for-profit organisation based in 32 countries around the world. Selected as an observer organisation by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and a global resource partner of the Climate Neutral Now Initiative, One Carbon World is working to make carbon accounting accessible for every business.

In this unique opportunity, One Carbon World are looking for an exceptional Carbon Scientist to join the dedicated team. You'll need to hold a minimum of an MSc in environmental science, ecology, forestry or similar and have extensive experience of GIS analysis, development of MRV protocols for farm/forest-based carbon measurement and implementing and analysing remote-sensing systems. You will be familiar with applying the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories to quantify carbon stock change in AFOLU systems, together with experience in the development of models to simulate/estimate changes in carbon stocks over time, both backward and forward facing.

With the ability to work with large and complex datasets to analyse and interpret carbon data for land-based, forestry and agricultural systems, you'll be skilled in applying mathematical equations, such as allometry to estimate biomass and carbon stock changes. With research experience in forestry and soil ecosystems, you'll have a thorough understanding of standards and guidelines, such as the LSRG, SBTi FLAG and VERRA.

This role is fully remote, but you will be required to travel internationally and potentially attend the annual United Nations Conference of Parties (CoP). In return for your specialist skills and experience, you'll have the opportunity to have a direct impact and be a key part of the growth and development of the organisation, working alongside colleagues who are experts in their fields.
