We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Earthworks Site Supervisor to oversee earthworks and civil engineering operations on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the following: earthworks, groundworks, drainage, roadworks, excavation, and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all on-site earthworks and civil engineering activities including excavation, grading, drainage, road construction, retaining structures, and utilities.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with project plans, specifications, and health & safety regulations.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
- Organize site workers, plant operators, and subcontractors for efficient productivity.
- Conduct daily site briefings and toolbox talks to communicate safety, work schedules, and quality expectations.
- Monitor progress and report daily site activities and issues to the Project Manager.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability guidelines on-site.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks or delays.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment hours.
- Inspect work for quality and ensure that it meets project specifications.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (3+ years preferred) in civil engineering/earthworks supervision.
- Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4, SMSTS, or SSSTS).
- Sound knowledge of groundworks, drainage, highways, and infrastructure construction techniques.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Competence with basic IT tools and reporting systems.

- First Aid Certification
- CPCS/NPORS plant tickets (advantageous)
- Temporary Works Supervisor certification
