Job Title: Underwriting Analyst
Reporting to: Risk Director
Location – London, 3 days a week in the office or if wider UK then once a week in the office
My client is a rapidly growing consumer finance provider with a nieche within Probate & Family Law lending. After 5 years of trading, they are a profitable scale up and have recently closed a £40M funding line to help streamline the company & lend into the market
We have exciting projects within underwriting inc Automation of decisions, Algorithms to speed up process & ability to lend to a wider part of the market. This is therefore a great chance to join the team and work closely with the Head Of.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing each individual case from application to execution
- Undertaking detailed due diligence on complex financial matters, asset valuations, credit reports and financial status
- Undertaking detailed due diligence on the prospective borrower’s background and legal case, compiling and reviewing legal documents
- Compiling asset schedules and underwriting papers
- Identifying risks and recommending appropriate mitigation where possible
- Communicating with solicitors and prospective borrowers both over email and on the telephone
- Ensuring all transactions fit within the company’s Credit Policy
- Ensuring the company’s compliance policies e.g. AML & data protection etc are adhered to in line with FCA regulations
- Updating senior members of the team on a regular basis on the status of applications across a large number of cases being underwritten
- Keeping borrowers and solicitors updated about the status of applications
- Preparing loan documentation
- Collating executed documentation
Experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak to solicitors at large law firms and the ability to present to senior management
- Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
- Ability to manage a large number of cases
- Ability to work under pressure and handle variable workloads
- A can-do attitude and someone who thrives in a busy and fast paced environment
- Experience in Consumer Lending is helpful, but not a prerequisite
- Experience of FCA regulations is helpful, but not a prerequisite
- Adaptable to change and being able to pivot in a fast-moving environment
