Derivatives Business Analyst

This role is responsible for analysis of business requirements and working with developers to test and release solutions. You will be part of a small, respected IT team that provides analytic tooling to a derivatives trading desk.

The role requires someone to work with derivatives traders and IT to:

1. Define requirements, propose solutions, broker decisions and achieve consensus.
2. Work with developers to deliver those requirements and support UAT.
3. Assist in providing third-line support to traders.
4. Work closely with front office to ensure IT is delivering revenue and to manage stakeholder expectations.
5. Identify improvements and recommend solutions to stakeholders.

Qualifications and skills include:

• Good understanding of Python (or other language) and SQL.
• Ability to work with large and complex data sets.
• Comfortable interfacing with mathematical models.
• Some skills in using an ETRM and understanding the trade lifecycle are highly regarded.
• Self-starter able to work with limited guidance.
• Team-player with ability to achieve results through shared initiatives.
• Ability to understand complex business issues and specify IT solutions.
• Experience in coordinating and delivering complex projects within agile methodologies.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and negotiate in a pressurized environment.
• Strong facilitation and influencing skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to cope with rapid business growth and a pressurized environment.
• Motivated, tenacious, and proactive in achieving results.
• Diligent and dependable with strong integrity.
• Demonstrable technical business analysis experience.
• Experience in front-office trading environments, especially commodities like energy or gas.
• Exposure to derivatives products, especially options, is highly regarded.
• Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
