Hybrid role with flexible start & finish times. A new role for this designer and manufacturer of cutting-edge electro-mechanical and opto-electronic sub-systems and components used in high-reliability applications across the space, aerospace, defence, and oil & gas sectors.
Senior-level Electronics Engineer role, also known as Hardware Technical Lead / Design Authority. The project involves an optical Fibre Transceiver — an exciting and challenging workpiece, focusing on a blend of analogue and digital electronics rather than high-speed digital electronics. Working closely with the Systems Engineer (Avionics) and Project Manager, you will act as the owner of the design & product. This is a technical role as the architecture decision-maker, responsible for designing, defining, and defending the architecture. There is no direct management responsibility, but you will delegate tasks to relevant technical disciplines (mechanical, firmware, etc.).
Essential Requirements of the Senior Electronics Design Engineer / Design Authority
- Experienced analogue and digital electronics design engineer (the product is a blend of both; experience in either is valuable, but both are necessary)
- Proven experience designing high-reliability electronics in the aerospace or defence sectors
- Good understanding of capacitors, inductors, etc.
- Firmware / FPGA experience (e.g., VHDL, RTL)
- Knowledge of simulation tools like SPICE (simulation and modelling) and COMSOL
- Mixed-signal knowledge involving ADC/DAC
- SC Cleared or clearable — British national, ILR
Desirable Requirements
- SoC-based design for high-performance signal processing, communications, and control
- Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics
- Experience with high-power amplifiers and clock recovery
- Experience with opto-electronics front-end amplification technology
- Knowledge of STANAG 3910 and MIL-STD-1553 protocols
- Experience with amplifier recovery, receiver sensitivity, and clock recovery
Benefits
- 9-day working fortnight (every other Friday off)
- Hybrid working with flexible start and finish times
- 25 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays
- Private Healthcare (BUPA)
- Salary exchanged pension scheme with enhanced company contributions
- Life assurance
- Additional benefits
