Our client Carcinotech have an exciting new opportunity for a Cell Culture Technician to join the team on a permanent basis. Carcinotech are based in the Easter Bush University of Edinburgh Campus.

Carcinotech is an expanding start-up company and is looking for a dynamic and delivery-focussed cell culture technician to support our busy TC labs. This role will be key to increasing our capacity as the company continues its exciting growth. The day-to-day tasks will be based around maintaining cell-cultures across several projects alongside our current scientific team

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cell maintenance of primary cells as well as cell lines
  • Perform primary sample receipt, log samples appropriately and update colleagues
  • Raise non-conformances as and when they arise
  • Perform daily lab monitoring of fridges & freezers
  • Place orders for lab consumables, as required
  • Performing stock checks of project consumables and materials.
  • Performing cleaning of laboratories and monitoring equipment in accordance with approved standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare and process lab coats for laundry
  • Operating equipment, including but not limited to biological incubators, laminar air flow cabinets, centrifuges, -150 freezers.
  • Assisting scientific colleagues with their processes
  • Ensure that confidentiality of all information relating to clients and patients is maintained at all times.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • 1+ years of cell maintenance experience in a commercial setting
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office packages such as Work, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Strong communication & organisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Enjoys the startup mindset of going the extra mile to succeed
  • Proactive, friendly, approachable and displays a positive attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to work to deadlines and deliver results

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a regulated environment – GMP/GLP etc
  • Experience handling primary patient material safely
  • Experience using Electronic Lab Notebook systems such as Benchling
  • Experience using liquid handling robots
