To lead all essential engineering activities for the site through a multi-skilled team, looking after planned and reactive maintenance. Support with the identification and agreement of various projects and improvement activities. The jobholder will serve as a key member of the site leadership team, providing insights, perspectives, and overall leadership critical to advancing the site's performance agenda.
Key Activities:
- Ensure that all work is undertaken within the site policies relating to Health, Safety and Environment and to ensure compliance with all relevant Management Standards.
- Provide clear and direct supervision and leadership of the engineering team, ensuring all team members are clear on their objectives and performance via regular one-to-one reviews and more formal PDRs helping create a world-class maintenance organisation.
- Take accountability for the engineering performance KPIs, monitored and achieved by closely working with the Production Manager for machine performance.
- Work to ensure all activities are completed in the most cost-effective manner and within budgetary control.
- Utilise and promote the usage of a CMMS system to provide direction and assistance to maintenance personnel within the team.
- Improve the availability of our production assets through effective predictive maintenance programs and effective maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Champion vendor services to maximize quality, performance and reliability of equipment repairs.
- Serve as an extended member of the operations leadership, including providing weekend on call coverage.
- Develop/maintain an engineering stores system that ensures critical spares availability, stock control management & effective maintenance planning.
Continuous Improvement Activities:
- Provide leadership and ownership of the site's productivity agenda, working closely with production teams to execute productivity initiatives and avoid inconsistencies in the process.
- Collaborate with Operations team to optimise the process to reduce cost, reduce variability, and improve reliability.
- Adopt a maintenance approach that has a strong focus on condition monitoring and ensuring inspections meet target completion rate each month.
- Conduct analysis of available data and ensuring all single & repeat failures are being addressed in a timely manner without the need for re-work or repeat intervention.
- Promote growth of the maintenance team by providing leadership in the development and implementation of:
- Root Cause Analysis – documenting failures, analysing repetitive failures, analysing major failures, training maintenance and production personnel, develop/manage corrective action database, recommend and implement fixes for root causes.
- Precision maintenance techniques – developing and implementing standards-based repair procedures, documenting repairs, developing vendor standards.
- Preventive maintenance programs – develop tools and techniques to analyse and develop cost effective preventive maintenance procedures.
- Reliability improvements – identify, plan and implement projects to improve the inherent reliability of plant equipment.
- Analyse operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics.
Working Hours: Days Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 5.00pm. Friday 8.00am - 2.00pm.
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 Plus excellent benefits package.
