We are working with a highly prestigious independent professional, academic and trade publisher based in Central London – they are now looking for a Content Architect to join their business on a permanent basis, based 2 days a week in their London office.
This is an exciting and brand new role for the organisation, responsible for managing, processing and delivering XML content and all related assets and metadata across all of their product websites.

Working within the production team, and managing a team of digital QA specialists; this is a crucial role for the organisation, ensuring through exceptional XML management this publisher can continue to develop high quality, cost effective products that meet the needs of their audience. Existing processes do exist, so it will be crucial that the successful candidate is able to build on these foundations, whilst also contributing to innovative digital workflow processes.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in using XML within a publishing production setting as well as proven experience in managing and developing a team. Superb communication and influencing skills are essential, alongside an eagle eye for detail and a flexible, proactive approach. Must have skills and experience include:
- Proven experience in XML and its function in delivering publishing products. Including the use of management systems to store XML.
- Able to work with systems for large documents and collections of documents where they need to be coded and classified.
- Innovative approach to problem solving for both technical and non-technical issues
- Technical skills: XQuery 3.1; XSLT 3.0; Schematron (essential); RELAX NG, XSD, DTD (highly desirable)
- Any experience in using XProc 3.0/Ant or other batch processing and pipelining tools; Python; Java/C#; and experience of source code version control systems, such as Git would all be advantageous
