Gemporia began in 2004 and we are a British live television and online jewellery retailer sourcing gemstones across the globe. Since the end of 2017, we are now very proud to be an employee-owned company and we are constantly seeking to grow our successful team.
We are looking for an assistant to support the Buying and Product Development Team with administrative duties. The successful candidate needs to possess strong communication and time management skills, in addition to an attention for detail and a flexible approach. We are a craft business so an interest in jewellery making or crafting would be beneficial but not essential. We can offer career progression into buying, product development and merchandising.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Managing the buying process for your categories, including product development & range selection, maintaining the critical path, monitor and product inventory to identify opportunities to reduce current gemstones with high stock holding.
- Reviewing sales performance to understand key sales, profit and margin drivers.
- Communicating with suppliers to negotiate best pricing to achieve target margins and deliver commercial & competitive product ranges. Attend supplier meetings where necessary to source & develop new products in line with category plans.
- Work closely with CRTPL and their Merchandising team to ensure orders are processed accurately and products are delivered on time.
- Understanding competitors and market leaders reviewing competitor propositions on a regular basis and feedback any relevant points, proposing opportunities for product development.
- Create & implement strategic category plans to maximise sales and ensure category growth for your product areas.
- Driving strong relationships with internal teams to deliver category objectives.
- Become a category expert, continually developing your knowledge of your products areas & the wider business.
- Managing product queries and rectify any issues.
- Develop a thorough working knowledge of the in-house system and ensure accurate data entry.
Skills & Experience:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join a fast-paced team, candidates should have a proven track record of experience within a buying environment. Jewellery experience would be advantageous but not compulsory. Good communication skills are essential, as you will be the main point of contact for your suppliers, as well as liaising with other departments within the organisation. The successful candidate will be organised, driven & detail focused. A commercial & creative mindset with a passion for product and an understanding of the retail buying function are key. Good PC skills are necessary for this role.
Our studios/offices are based in Redditch, Worcestershire, B98 9HF you must be able to commute comfortably to this location. Working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week with flexibility at busy times. Salary dependant on experience.
