Join us on the Journey... National Express are recruiting an experienced Head of Technology Delivery, Products & Applications to join our team, based at our Head Office in Digbeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Technology initiatives, managing product and application portfolios, and ensuring the effective delivery of technology solutions aligned with business objectives. This role is hands-on, overseeing the delivery of technical initiatives and Product & Application Management, ensuring that IT capabilities support strategic priorities and operational excellence.
What you'll do:
- Technology Delivery & Project Management
- Oversee demand prioritisation, ensuring IT projects align with business needs and strategic goals
- Lead programme, project, and project management (PM) performance tracking, ensuring timely and efficient delivery
- Develop and enforce policy, process, and standards for project and change management
- Drive portfolio forecasting and budget management to ensure cost-effective resource allocation
- Establish and manage a Project Management Centre of Excellence (PM CoE) to enhance project delivery capabilities
- Demand & Capacity & Prioritization
- Product & Application Management
- Define and implement application strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Oversee Application Delivery Management (ADM), ensuring seamless deployment and maintenance of applications
- Lead process and tool selection, ensuring the best-fit technologies support operational needs
- Manage application SMEs and L3 support, ensuring technical expertise is available for issue resolution and continuous improvement
- Drive vendor engagement, managing relationships and performance of third-party providers to optimise service delivery
- Drive high value from long term vendors and contracts
- Product Culture evolution
- Present a gap analysis and/or IT investment roadmap that reflects the status of the existing IT estate, namely, its ability to contribute to future-state business capabilities around ecosystems and digital platforms
- Communicate the value of the technology strategies to the organisation
- Budget management
What you'll need:
- Proven experience in IT change management, product management, and application portfolio oversight
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions
- Expertise in IT project and programme management methodologies, with experience in PMO governance
- Knowledge of enterprise application management, IT service delivery, and vendor management
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a track record of driving process improvements
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Certifications in ITIL, PMP, Agile, or similar frameworks are preferred
