Job Description:
The WCPD Demand & Revenue Forecasting Lead is a key role within West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD), working with the Department for Transport (DfT) and HS2 Ltd to design and implement high-speed services on HS2. This full-time, fixed-term position is based in London (Euston Road), requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. The salary is approximately £62,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, with generous benefits.
Purpose of the role: To provide technical and analytical support for demand and revenue forecasting across various products within the WCPD programme, ensuring robustness and consistency in approach and assumptions. Key products include:
- Strategic Market Report: Analyzing future high-speed market potential
- Fares Options Analysis: Developing fare structures and regulations
- Train Service Specification: Designing core timetables for high-speed and conventional services
- Stations: Enhancing customer experience at stations
- SOBF: Providing baseline forecasts for high-speed and conventional services
Key responsibilities:
Revenue Modelling:
- Develop and operate demand and revenue models
- Apply industry principles to rail demand modelling
- Challenge industry norms with bespoke techniques
- Create tailored forecasting models for specific purposes
- Maintain best practices in spreadsheet modelling
- Document all assumptions used in models
Data Analysis:
- Utilize historical data to understand passenger demand patterns
- Analyze industry data to forecast future demand trends
Economic Forecasting:
- Stay updated on economic factors influencing rail demand
