Love plants and/or marketplaces? Full of creative and entrepreneurial energy and want to get stuck into a project that could become your future? Want to work with fun, determined, and down-to-earth people that want to build a company that is wildly profitable, but treats all its team members, customers and users with respect and dignity?
We’re Tuki - the marketplace app for buying and selling plants. The founding team consists of a married couple that have used their marketing and business strategy skills and experience to test a concept, build an MVP/beta version of an app, and now we’re ready to get the word out. We want to build a pre-launch waitlist, whilst simultaneously activate a cohort of enthusiasts for user testing, whilst also building out the team that will go for funding. To do this, we need to get our MVP finalised, optimised, and available to users for testing. We’re 95% finished, with a decent version that’s good enough. However, we need a technical co-founder to join the team to own the maintenance and optimisation of the existing app for as long as possible pre-funding.
This is a remote role for a Technical Co-founder. The Technical Co-founder will, in the future, be responsible for leading the development and technical direction of the company, building and managing the technology team, designing and implementing scalable and robust solutions, and collaborating with non-technical founders on strategy and execution. With this in mind, the candidate should be ready to move into a full-time position once we reach our investment goals. In the short term, as much of the app development is already complete, the technical role is mostly focused on hands-on optimisation and maintenance of the app to ensure it is ready for user testing. There may be some additional development needed to finalise certain features.
With this in mind, we need a team member that is an expert in iOS and Android development, specifically with our tech stack that includes React Native, MongoDB, Firebase, Digital Ocean for hosting. Proficiency with Google Analytics and databases would be an advantage. This role is remote, and long term we plan to be a remote-first company. However, we would like to have regular meetings in London to ensure we are in-sync (every 3/4 weeks), so ability and appetite to meet in person is essential.
Qualifications
- Understanding of iOS and Android app development, specifically using React Native.
- Strong communication skills, vision and creativity.
- Sense of humour, empathy for others, mixed with a determination to get things done.
About You
This is an unpaid role (until we get funding) and so we’re looking for someone that aspires to have their own business, but doesn’t want to do it alone. Someone that has tried projects in the past, but something didn’t quite click. We’re looking for someone sociable and outgoing, who wants to build a team in the future, to show up to events and meetings and drive user growth. We want someone that wants to be an 'owner' not just an employee, and who will challenge us and push us. If you’re ready for the challenge, then please apply. To be super clear - this role is shares-only until we reach investment and/or income generation at which stage a fair salary will be implemented.
