We are pleased to be supporting an Engineering company based in Sunbury with their recruitment of a Purchasing Engineer. Salary up to £45,000 DOE with outstanding benefits including annual bonus, private health & dental care, generous pension scheme and life assurance.
Working in a team of 5, the Purchasing Engineer will source and buy materials, goods or services for the organisation within individual contract specifications and time constraints.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Source and procure parts and services specified by the design office, ensuring timely arrival of these parts and services for final assembly and test in the workshop.
- Communicate any supply issues which may pose a risk or impact the business operations.
- Interface between applications, drawing office and the supplier with respect to specifications and budgets.
- Analyse vendor loading and stock levels and ensure vendors can supply in a timely manner and ensure vendors comply with company purchasing policies.
- Analyse purchasing requirements and provide technical and commercial expertise where necessary.
- Assess tenders and quotes from new and existing suppliers and decide on best supplier fit based on price, lead times and quality.
- Check product certification and issue product to workshop.
Requirements & skills:
- General understanding of engineering drawings, standards and production methods.
- Engineering degree or equivalent desirable.
- Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem identification and solution abilities.
