The Deal Origination team is a specialist business development function within RSM\’s Transaction Advisory department that supports the generation and sourcing of M&A opportunities for the firm. The Deal Origination team uses a thematic approach to assessing potential targets and is responsible for approaching and building relationships with the management teams of privately-owned businesses that have the potential to be future M&A clients of the firm. The main objective is to grow RSM\’s client base by building and maintaining relationships with senior decision makers.
Working in our London office as a Deal Origination Manager, you will be working closely with and reporting to the Head of Deal Origination. Working with different teams within our Transaction Advisory department, you will build a pipeline of opportunities and will be key in driving the relationships with business owners. We are a small, relationship-driven team and you will be exposed to senior colleagues, a varied workload and a high level of responsibility.
You\’ll make an impact by:
- Directly targeting the key stakeholders of UK privately-owned businesses
- Owning, managing and tracking relationships with targets
- Coordinating sector & sub-sector focus targeting campaigns with the M&A team sector teams
- Working with more junior team members to identify prospective M&A clients
- Actively contributing to the development of RSM\’s M&A business development strategy
- Assisting in training junior members of both the Origination and M&A teams on business development activities

- Commercial background with a strong understanding of corporate finance
- Experience in originating M&A opportunities
- Organised, articulate and able to build relationships with entrepreneurs and business owners
- Strong presentational, communication and written skills and excellent organisational capabilities
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
