This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity with excellent working conditions, a steady Monday to Friday schedule, and the chance to make a difference in your local community.

The Role:
As a qualified HGV Mechanic, you'll be working as part of a team maintaining and repairing the council's fleet of heavy goods vehicles and associated equipment. This includes refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, tippers, and other plant and commercial vehicles. You'll ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and serviced to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and other fleet vehicles
- Ensuring vehicles comply with DVSA standards and council safety requirements
- Maintaining service and repair records
- Supporting breakdown recovery and reactive maintenance as required
- Working collaboratively with colleagues in a clean and organised workshop
About You:
We're looking for a hands-on professional with strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or Mechanic
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Previous experience working in a local authority or similar public sector setting
